Shichigosan


Shichigosan is a festival that originated in Japan in the Heian Period. It is not a national holiday. The boys wear traditional dresses. This celebration is not a national holiday. In this celebration you go to a shrine where the celebrations start.

Another name for this fantastic celebration is seven-five-three. Chitose Ame a thousand year candy is given to little kids on this celebration. Chitose Ame is long, thin, red and white candy.

 千歳飴 This means Chitose Ame.
